Who is eligible for membership at Erie Metro FCU?

Any person(s) who live, work, worship, attend school or volunteer in the communities of Buffalo, Lackawanna, Blasdell, Hamburg, and Lakeview, NY, is eligible to join.

How does a person in these communities confirm their eligibility?

Verification may be provided with any of the following forms of identification: NYS driver’s license, vehicle registration, employer ID card or recent pay stub, school ID card, letter from pastor or house of worship donation envelopes.

Is there a cost to join the credit union?

A total of $10.00 is requested to become a member. The amount covers a $5.00 membership fee (one-time fee) and $5.00 to open a savings account (required).

Are there any additional costs to become a credit union member?

There are no additional costs associated with joining the credit union.

How does a person start the process to become a member?

Individuals may stop into either of our 2 office locations and request a new account packet. Complete, sign and return the required forms along with verification of eligibility. The $10.00 membership fee is also due at this time.

Can a person join who does not meet the eligibility requirements?

Possibly. If you are an immediate family member of a present member (parents, siblings, children, grandparents, grandchildren), or live and share household expenses with a member, you are eligible for membership. Also, if you have an immediate family member that meets the criteria for membership but is not a member of the credit union, you are eligible to join. Verification of the family member's eligibility is required.

After a person joins the credit union, how soon can they use the products and services offered, including loans and credit cards?

Once a person officially joins the credit union, they are welcome to use any of the products or services offered (Some restrictions may apply). Eligibility for loans and credit cards is based on income and credit history. Other restrictions may apply.
